As fall temperature’s drop, for most means more time indoors. As much as you may be dreading that thought it’s a great time to take stock of your home and make some moves to make the winter indoors more enjoyable.
Take some time before it gets too cold to clean up the outdoors. Clean out the gutters to prevent trapped water from freezing and damaging your roof. Clean off patio furniture and your grill and prepare to store it for the winter. Store cushions in your garage or under a covered porch. Take this time to clean up the yard, too. Plant bulbs for spring flowers and reseed any bare spots in the yard. Fall is also a great time to clean the windows. Cloudy days make any streaks easier to catch.
Clean the kitchen
Once you’ve straightened up outdoors you’re ready to move inside. If you’ve got lots of holiday cooking in your future this is a great time to make sure the kitchen is ready. Take time to deep clean the fridge and the oven as these appliances are hit hard when you’re entertaining holidays guests.
Winterize your beds
Strip down the beds in your home and clean all your bedding on the hottest setting to kill dust mites and bacteria. Flip your mattress to make it feel like new. If your comforter or duvet needs a refresh, bring it to us for a professional cleaning.
Straighten your closets
Take stock of what you have and what you may need during colder months. Take outdated pieces to a donation drop off and store summer outfits in a safe place. Make sure you take time to review your child’s closet too. Make sure they have what they need for school and for home and donate clothes they’ve outgrown. It’s also a great time to make a trip to the cleaners. Let us help breathe new life into old sweaters and jackets and prepare your summer clothes for safe storage.
A little effort now to clean and clear away any mess will make the holiday season much more enjoyable.
